Tunisia-Government making every effort to guarantee Ramadan is spent in good conditions. Will it succeed in doing so?

The current Tunisian government, along with the Presidency of the Republic, admits the importance of the holy month of Ramadan to the Tunisian people and is dedicated to guaranteeing that all necessary provisions are made for its observance under favourable conditions.

In this effort, the government has executed various measures, including ensuring the availability of essential food items. The Ministry of Commerce and Export Development, through its different sectors and departments, has been actively operating to supply sufficient quantities of basic foodstuffs to the markets during Ramadan, concentrating on items that are often in short supply, such as milk, sugar, farina (a type of flour), and fortified vegetable oil.

Additionally, the Ministry has put in place a program to observe prices to prevent unreasonable hikes while tackling issues of monopoly and speculation and overseeing the distribution channels.

The government has also aimed to enhance some public services. These efforts include ramping up public hygiene campaigns across the country, enhancing public lighting services, and ensuring the availability of drinking water in all regions.

With these measures, the Tunisian government seeks to create a conducive environment for the Tunisian people to observe Ramadan in the best possible conditions. The success of these initiatives in permitting Tunisian citizens to fully enjoy the holy month with all its blessings remains to be seen.
