Units of the Maritime Guard are currently accompanying the boats Chebba protestors who planned this Thursday, November 12, 2020, a collective emigration operation to the Italian coast.
This operation was set up by the defence coordination of the Croissant Sportif de Chebba (CSC), as a form of a rally against the penalties taken by the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) following its decision to freeze the activities of the CSC.
The Maritime Guard units blocked these boats by stopping them from reaching international waters, pending negotiations with the authorities.
More than 20 boats had been assembled for this purpose, but the departure was delayed to November 6, at first, due to bad weather. It should be remarked that the number of people registered to participate in this event had reached 800 to climb to more than 2000 people.
The mass emigration operation started this Thursday, November 12, 2020, with record attendance at the port of Chebba and in the presence of many former city officials who have since quit, including the former city delegate. Some first-team players have also embarked as shown in the video broadcast by Zoom Tunisia.
Prime minister Hichem Mechichi received this Thursday, November 12 the president of CS Chebba Taoufik Lemkacher to address this issue and to attempt to find a favourable outcome to this dispute.
