Tunisia – Habib Essid : Rached Ghannouchi asked me to step down when I was prime minister

In a statement to Jawhara FM, former prime minister Habib Essid disclosed that Rached Ghannouchi had telephoned him the day before the plenary devoted to the renewal of confidence, to ask him to step down, which he refused to do.

Essid additionally stated he was well aware that he was going to be voted against, adding that his exclusion was planned by various parties including those close to former President of the Republic Béji Kaied Essebsi.
