Tunisia-HAICA permanently suspends “Bila Kinaa” program and fines 20 thousand dinars on “M Tunisia”

The Council of the Independent  High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA has resolved to force a penalty of 20 thousand dinars on channel “M Tunisia” and to lastingly discontinue the program “Bila Kinaa”.

In a declaration issued on Tuesday, HAICA told these settlements were taken at its council meeting held on October 26.

“The final halt of the program in question involves not only its broadcast on the channel but including on its official website and all its pages in social networks,” it said.

The “M Tunisia” channel was similarly called upon to remove all episodes from its pages on social network platforms.

The Authority emphasised that what was broadcast threatens the biggest interests of the child and journalistic integrity, in infringement of article 5 of the decree-law on audiovisual and the provisions of articles 14, 23 and 24 of the specifications laying down the general conditions and rules for giving a license to create and operate a private television channel.
