Tunisia-Haikel Mekki to Saied: “We will not abandon you … However we support the right of the unemployed to work”

In a statement to a private radio, Echaab leader Haikel Mekki estimated on November 25, 2021, that the one who suggested to the President of the Republic, Kais Saied to abandon the activation of Law No. 38 of 2020, led him into mistake. “Mr President, the one who advised you to abandon the activation of Bill 38 in order to be capable to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund … is leading you down a wrong road. “, he said.

Mekki further criticized the accusation of the chairman of MPs and parties of selling illusions to young people through this bill. “I advise him to put things into a prospect, yes there are those who have sold illusions to young people, especially Ennahdha. Yes, the majority of the parliament sold illusions in this file because it did not provide the resources to implement the said law. However there are many representatives and honourable blocs involved with the social sector and they have provided resources. “, he added

“The Echaab Movement proposed Law 38 and provided it with its resources through a recommendation. A tax on the profits of banks, insurance companies and others, however the Ennahdha movement and its allies passed the law and did not ratify the resources. “, He explained. Emphasizing that the Echaab movement differs from Kais Saied. “A conflict between brothers or between friends, but we will not give up,” he said.

“We will always support the right of unemployed young people to work, and we will not give up on our friend Kais Saied. We still consider that the President of the Republic is enough intelligent not to modify political and economic life without consulting the actors of the national scene ”, he concluded.
