Tunisia-Haykel Mekki: The State of Ghannouchi is over… There is no longer any place for political Islam

Echaâb member Haykel Mekki expressed this Wednesday, April 13, 2022, his rejection of the participation of political Islam (in reference to the Ennahda movement) in the national dialogue. During his intervention on the radio, Mekki confirmed that “The State of Rached Ghannouchi is over…The national dialogue must be led by the Head of State Kais Saied…It is time to put aside political Islam”. He also firmly condemned what he saw as calls for foreign intervention in Tunisia to secure the return of parliament. “There is no way to return to parliamentary activities, under outside pressure,” he said.
