Tunisia-Hechmi Louzir:Nine laboratories around the world are studying the production of vaccines against the coronavirus

Nine laboratories around the world are currently working on the production of 9 vaccines against the coronavirus, which are in the clinical research phase, the last step to ensure the effectiveness of these vaccines, director-general of the Institut Pasteur and member of the scientific committee against COVID-19 Hechmi Louzir announced.

Speaking to the TAP, Mr Louzir pointed out that these laboratories are located in the United States of America who has (two or three), Germany, France, Russia and China all of whom began since July last year to lead scientific research to produce these vaccinations, it is expected that they will be ready starting from next  November and December, according to the progress of the clinical research phase and scientific controls adopted for the purpose.

He further affirmed, “There are some laboratories that have begun to create the vaccinations that they are operating on in significant quantities, for their faith in the results of the research they are doing,” emphasising that based on the date for the end of the clinical trial phase, vaccinations will be available at the beginning or middle of the next year.
Moreover, He asserted that a cell in the Scientific committee in Tunisia is following the advancements of research in the field of vaccination and is running on locating with the major laboratories that work on it and joining the initiative of the World Health Organization directed at providing vaccination to middle and limited income countries.
He pointed out that this cell had studied Tunisia’s needs for vaccination against Covid 19 and identified the persons and groups with priority to obtain vaccination so that it would be ready to acquire these vaccinations as soon as its readiness and efficacy were announced based on the necessary clinical and scientific research.
