Tunisia- Hichem Ben Ahmed: It is imperative to speed up vaccination to have a chance to save the tourist season

Speaking at yesterday plenary session, MP Hichem Ben Ahmed reported in order to save the 2021 season, which has been practically at a standstill for 12 months, it is unquestionably important to begin the vaccination campaign immediately and communicate on the program.

Calling the lack of clear and exhaustive real information as “worrying”, the deputy emphasised that a large number of nations that resemble Tunisia are in a phase of reflection on the post-vaccination period, from a health and economical point of view.

“I hope it’s just a communication problem and not letting go,” he added. The deputy requested more details on the categories of the population that will be vaccinated and the budget that has been given to finance the vaccines and the vaccination operation, hoping that the bureaucracy will refrain from slowing it down.

The deputy further raised the issue of insurance, needed to obtain a sufficient stock of vaccines as soon as possible, as well as the problem of drastic storage conditions.
