Tunisia-Hichem Mechichi: Creation of a high commission to evaluate process of combating COVID-19

Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, on Monday, declared the creation of a high advisory commission in charge of evaluating the process of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
This decision was adopted at a working session between different stakeholders of the scientific, administrative and health structures in charge of the battle against the coronavirus.
The work of the commission, which began its actions on Monday, will concentrate on the assessment of efforts in the fight against the coronavirus and the proper administration of this crisis as well as the coordination of the procurement of vaccines from foreign laboratories and the exploitation according to the prefixed priorities.
The committee will further be accountable for observing efforts to extend the capacity of hospitals and the availability of medical gear including respirators and resuscitation beds.
Mechichi emphasised that the creation of this commission is part of the concern to secure better coordination between the different parties included in the fight against the coronavirus to surmount any problems arising during the process of fighting the pandemic.
Mechichi similarly insisted on the deployment of efforts to secure the acquisition of vaccine doses, pointing out that he has set up a committee at the level of the Prime Ministry which will guarantee the consultation with laboratories and solve the problem of lack of vaccine doses.
