Tunisia-House speaker Rached Ghannouchi meets with German ambassador in Tunis

House speaker of the House of the people representatives Rached Ghannouchi welcomed on Monday in Bardo Palace German ambassador to Tunisia Peter Prügel.

During the meeting, Ghannouchi emphasised the necessity for the Tunisian-German Parliamentary Friendship Group to become active, said a statement from the Parliament.

He highlighted the performance of parliamentary diplomacy in increasing bilateral partnership and expanding its fields. While hailing the support given by German organisations, especially the “Hanns Seidel” foundation, to the parliament, Ghannouchi embraced the “powerful ” friendly relationships connecting the two countries and the bilateral cooperation in higher education and scientific research.

In this context, he reaffirmed the significance of the Tunisian-German University project. In the same vein, Ghannouchi stressed the value of joint cooperation and sharing of expertise in the field of economic amelioration and sustainable development. For his part, ambassador Prügel welcomed the “excellent” and “historic” relationships which have kept becoming stronger since the revolution. He reaffirmed his nation readiness to consolidate this partnership, given the many difficulties facing Tunisia in these times of pandemic.
