The president of the National Anti-Corruption Authority (INLUCC), Imed Boukhris told the TAP agency that he took up his new functions at the head of the body on Friday.
The new president of the INLUCC was sworn in on Wednesday before the President of the Republic, during a ceremony held at the Palace of Carthage.
The Council of Ministers meeting on August 24 had decided to dismiss Chawki Tabib from his functions and his replacement by Imed Boukhris who held the post of Attorney General at the Court of Cassation.
Imed Boukhris was prevented, on August 27, from taking up his post at the head of the INLUCC because of “Chawki Tabib’s refusal of the decision to dismiss him”. The latter had requested the postponement of the transfer of functions until the appeal filed is decided.
In a letter to public opinion the same day, Tabib explained that an appeal against the dismissal decision was lodged with the Administrative Tribunal by the President of the Bar Brahim Bouderbala on behalf of former President of the Bar and a group of lawyers to request a stay of execution. He also stressed that he will not leave his post before ruling on the appeal.
