The Ministry of the Interior revealed on Wednesday that its services have been observing reports of injections of unknown substances into children. Seven cases including three in Tunis and four in the governorates of Mahdia, Tozeur, Gafsa and Sousse have been registered.

The analyzes carried out have confirmed that there is no toxic substance in the samples taken while awaiting the outcomes of the bacteriological tests. The ministry added in a statement that security units obtained an alert on Wednesday on a matching case in Tataouine.

Two suspects were apprehended near a school. A girl was heard later in the presence of her mother, the regional child protection delegate and a psychologist. The person involved assured them that she fled when she realised that one of the suspects had a syringe in his hand.

The Regional Unit specialized in crimes against women and children consulted the public prosecutor who ordered the registration of a report and the taking of the required measures in accordance with the law.

These cases will be followed by the services of the Ministry of the Interior.
