President of the Tunisian League for Human Rights Jamal M’sallem has dismissed the presence of any connection between the extradition of Algerian refugee Bouhafs Slimane from Tunisia and the capture of Nabil Karoui in Algeria.
In the event that Nabil Karoui presents a request for political asylum, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will prepare a file to this effect.
He added that Nabil Karoui will be prosecuted after crossing borders illegally, in accordance with Algerian law which provides for deportation, a fine and a suspended jail sentence for illegal border crossings.
