Tunisia-Jumia closes its food delivery service in Tunisia

As part of its strategy to optimize resources and move towards profitability, Jumia Technologies has decided to close its food delivery service, Jumia Food, in all countries of operation. Tunisia is one of the countries impacted by this decision, aligning with Jumia’s efforts to cut costs and achieve profitability.

Jumia Food constitutes about 11% of Jumia’s general merchandise value for the first nine months of the year but has not been profitable since its inception. CEO Francis Dufay stated that the food delivery industry encounters significant economic challenges and intense competition.

Jumia continued to incur losses in the last quarter. The closure of Jumia Food in Tunisia and other countries strsses the company’s commitment to concentrate on the most profitable aspects of its business, particularly online commerce.
