President of the Republic, Kais Saied, completed this evening, Monday, January 29, 2024, his participation in the Italy-Africa Summit in Rome by talking with Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister.
During this meeting, several files were analysed which concern the strong friendly relations, and the distinguished partnership between Tunisia and Italy, whether in the bilateral framework or at the level of the European Union, which showed the common desire to further enhance this year of coordination and consultation, to further consolidate and diversify these links, especially in the areas of agriculture and energy, renewable energies, small and medium-sized businesses, culture, professional training and higher education.
The interview also concentrated on the Italy-Africa Summit and the necessity to develop collective action to address the multiple challenges confronting the African continent today. The strategic position that Tunisia will occupy was also emphasised in the executive programs which will be prepared for this purpose.
On the other hand, the President of the Republic underscored the significance of improving the care and supervision of Tunisians living in Italy, facilitating procedures in their favour and encouraging organized immigration within the framework deals signed between the two countries.
The meeting also concentrated on monitoring the results of the Rome process on migration, the first session of which was held in Rome in July 2023, and on preparing for the holding of the second meeting of this conference in Tunisia.
