Tunisia- Kef: STEG employee and banker arrested

The investigating judge of the court of the first instance of Kef ordered agents of the research and investigation brigade of the National Guard in Tejerouine to place in police custody a former employee of the Tunisian Society of Electricity and Energy Gaz, currently occupying a function in the governorate of Kef and a banking executive in the region, for suspicion of financial and administrative corruption in the relationship of electric meters, under article 96 of the Penal Code, reports Yousri Haouami, the bearer -official spokesperson of the court of first instance of Kef.

The prosecution of the Kef Court of First Instance ordered the opening of an inquiry following a lodged filed by the legal representative of the district of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company of Kef, regarding suspicions of financial corruption and administrative action implicating an employee of the company working in one of its branches.

The latter is suspected of being involved in the direct connection to electricity of meters belonging to a landowner and banker in Kef, without the meters being entered in the delivery registers.

Following the transmission of the file to the investigating judge in charge of the investigation, a judicial delegation was dispatched to the research and investigation brigade of the National Guard in Tejerouine to continue the investigations.

The former STEG employee as well as the current district manager, along with the banking executive, for the investigation.
