Ennahdha member Ali Larayedh maintained he did not give instructions to use buckshot in Siliana.
Speaking to a private television station on Sunday evening, Larayedh affirmed that he is innocent of the crime, adding that security officials themselves decided to utilise buckshot.
It is evoked that the incidents of buckshot in Siliana date back to 27, 28 and 29 November 2012 during the reign of the Troika. They had opposed demonstrators to the police against a background of social demands for employment and development in the region. Hundreds of people were wounded by buckshot fire, including 23 young people experiencing from after-effects (partial or total loss of sight).
