Tunisia-Lifting travel ban on Lampedusa girl’s parents

The story of the 4 -a year -old girl, who made the crossing towards Lampedusa Island in Italy, aboard a clandestine emigration boat amone has still not experienced her epilogue!

This affair, which dates back to October 19, is experiencing new developments. The accusation chamber of the Monastir Court of Appeal has lifted the travel ban imposed on the parents of the girl, the deputy general prosecutor, and spokesperson for the courts of  Monastir and Mahdia, Farid Ben Jha told the TAP.

He also indicated that justice has delayed the examination of the little girl’s situation next week.

While the little girl has been placed in a specialized prevention center while waiting to be repatriated, the Italian authorities instructed a lawyer in this file in order to refuse her repatriation in Tunisia.

According to a judgment issued by the Tunisian justice, the girl must be repatriated to Tunisia, but Italian justice has decided to put the little girl under the supervision of an Italian lawyer.

A decision was made pending the fulfillment of the various legal proceedings, while the Tunisian party had officially requested its repatriation.

Guardianship is a judicial measure planned to protect a person if they are no longer able to watch over their own interests.

In addition, the investigating judge of the Monastir Court of First Instance had decided to put ban travel for the girl’s parents. This decision took place to guarantee “the smooth running of research since they are the only ones to be able to identify the passer”,
