Speaking on the airwaves of a private radio, head of the Cercle des financiers Tunisiens Abdelkader Boudriga stated that the repayment of the loans by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) did not affect the percentage of inflation.
He stressed that the debt repayment is accomplished through external or internal debt, emphasising that Tunisia cannot have recourse to foreign donors given the negotiations that began with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
“This prompted Tunisia to rely on the domestic market in order to pay its credits,” he said. Boudriga further indicated that the inflation rate will increase in the coming months, at the same time saluting the wisdom of the BCT in handling the monetary crisis since 2018.
