Tunisia-Machrouu Tounes to boycott legislative elections

Machroû Tounes revealed, in a press release published, Monday, October 3, 2022, that its congress will take place next March and that it will mark the beginning of a new stage both in terms of the program, the organization or the direction.

The party likewise said that it will not partake in the December legislative elections, underlining, in this regard, that the development of electoral laws shortly before the elections and in a superficial manner is not in conformity with international and natural standards for the elections.

Machroû Tounes also cited an implicit tendency to attempt to eliminate parties of political life and to “replace them with a” basic “approach that will disintegrate society”, adding that the new constitution does not pave the way to effective legislative power.
