Tunisia-Marine turtle “Ramzi” returned to the Wildlife

A 10-year-old marine turtle called “Ramzi” was returned to the wildlife after being saved by the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology (French: INTSM) and Notre grand bleu association, the TAP reported.
The loggerhead (Caretta caretta) turtle is 63cm long and 58cm wide. It was cared for, recorded then released off Kraaya beach in Monastir, told Researcher and Head of the Tunisian Sea Turtle Rescue Centre ( Monastir) Olfa Chaieb.
“Ramzi,” was named after the coast guard who saved it in Kerkenneh, was weakened after being fished out by accident and taken to the INSTM of Sfax then to the Tunisian Sea Turtle Rescue Centre last April 19.
Over 5,000 turtles are being fished out each year in Gabés due to troll fishing, INSTM Researcher Imed Jeribi said.
“Luckily, most of them escape death,” he added.
