Former President of the Republic Moncef Marzouki expressed profound regret over some of the errors he made during his presidency of Tunisia between 2011 and 2014.
In a statement to Al Jazeera, Marzouki stated he bitterly regrets forgiving those who insulted him in the media. He, again, said he made a mistake in being tolerant with those who “cursed him in the media day and night,” though at the same time revealed that he refused to jail journalists.
