Tunisia-Mdhilla-Fire-Locomotive: Aouina Central Division trusted with expanding investigation

The first investigating judge at the second chamber of the Court of First Instance of Gafsa assigned a letter rogatory to the Central Division of Research and Investigation of the Aouina National Guard to investigate into the fire of the locomotive belonging to the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG), the TAP reported.

The central division will expand the inquiry into the fire that happened on Friday, May 15, 2020, in the proximity of the laundry No. 3 of the delegation of Mdhilla (Gafsa governorate) and which destroyed nearly the entire locomotive.

In a statement to TAP, spokesman for the Gafsa courts, Jamel Barhoumi revealed that the Aouina central division will be in command of expertise, investigations and technical inspections around the fire.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Court of First Instance of Gafsa had previously consigned the research and investigation division of the El Ksar National Guard with the preliminary investigation of the locomotive incident, Barhoumi pointed out, adding that it will proceed its investigation in conjunction with the investigations of the Aouina Central Division.

At this stage of the investigation, no element can confirm or reject the criminal cause of the fire, the same source indicated.
