Tunisia-Migration flows at heart of meeting between Feki and his Libyan counterpart

Interior Minister Kamal Feki welcomed yesterday, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, his Libyan counterpart Imad Trabelsi, in the attendance of a group of senior officials from both parties.

On this occasion, a working session was held to review several common security files, in particular the fight against illegal immigration and ways to overcome difficulties to facilitate the services provided at the Ras Jedir border post.

The two sides agreed on the necessity to strengthen bilateral coordination and collaboration in the field of security, consequently reflecting the genuine brotherhood between the two peoples and the long history of the partnership between the two brotherly countries, especially in the field of exchange of information, training and the fight against organized crime.

During the session, the significance of the issue of sub-Saharan migrants was highlighted, as well as its repercussions on the two countries and the need to limit their influx at the borders.

This requires the convergence of efforts and joint coordination to find suitable solutions that preserve the best interests of both countries while calling on international organizations to support the efforts of the State and the Tunisian Red Crescent to deliver humanitarian assistance. and not to hesitate to fulfil their duty towards migrants and to take care of them.
