Minister of Education, Salwa Abbasi, considered during her supervision today, Wednesday, of the 2024 Professions Forum at the Atef Chayeb Institute in Hammamet, that the crisis created concerning Article 20 does not concern her, but rather concerns the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT).
Abbasi noted that the Minister of Education must be far removed from the political agenda, underscoring that social dialogue is an essential part of the ministry’s educational policy and must move away from the logic of push and pull to solve issues by adopting a mechanism of negotiation and dialogue with the union party to accomplish educational stability, which is part of Social ladder.
In the same context, she emphasised the necessity for the Minister of Education to have an educational policy.
The minister stated that the negotiating sessions with the universities of basic and secondary education were positive. On the other hand, the file of substitute teachers remains a difficult file and is in the process of being resolved, but it needs a cautious approach.
In a related context, the Minister of Education considered that reforming the system requires the united efforts of all parties concerned in the sector and the strengthening of the partnership between the public and private sectors within the framework of mutual benefit to build a cooperative school capable of implementing, through its outputs, a prominent societal purpose.
