Tunisia-Ministerial Reshuffle: Imed Khemiri believes prime minister is not required to consult the President of the Republic

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Ennahdha parliamentary bloc leader Imed Khemiri stressed that the cabinet reshuffle is within the exclusive provision of the prime minister Consequently, the latter is not compelled to consult or inform the President of the Republic, except with regard to the ministers of National Defense and Foreign Affairs, and this, in accordance with the provisions of the constitution.

Replying to a question on the consultations made between PM Hichem Mechichi and the Ennnahdha party for this end, the MP affirmed that the constitution provides the Head of Government the full power to carry out any discussions he considers necessary before the making his decision.

He reassured that even after the reshuffle, this government will maintain its apolitical character, stating that the Ennahdha Movement has not recommended any name and that it is satisfied to interact with the proposals of Hichem Mechichi. He also hoped that the hunger strike begun by Samia Abbou, as well as other deputies affiliated with the Democratic bloc, will come to an end as soon as possible, especially that the House speaker has already responded to their demands and that violence has already been condemned ”.
