The Swiss government announced on Wednesday that it is prolonging its lockdown by five more weeks, indicating the measures directed at curbing the spread of COVID-19 will last till the end of February. The decision came essentially as a result of the discovery of new variants of the coronavirus, officials revealed.

According to the new rules, all non-essential businesses will have to remain closed as of January 18, while gatherings at home will be restricted to five people. Moreover , all employers must organize work from home if their business allows it.
