Tunisia- Mohamed Abou: only criminals benefited from the 2011 Revolution

Mohamed Abbou accused the Ennahdha Movement of money laundering. “Ennahdha took the place of Ben Ali” he added.

Abu stated that this Islamist party takes advantage of the religious aspect to earn the trust of the people. Concerning his position on political Islam, Mohamed Abou assumed that it would be extremely risky to eliminate an already living political tendency. “We cannot contain any party, however, if that party attempts to break the law and the constitution it would be held responsible for its actions. Said the politician.

The former minister alleged that only criminals profited from the 2011 Revolution. “Leaders in political parties benefited from the revolution, illegally funded their parties and even bought houses. How can we consider this as an achievement of the revolution? he affirmed.

He added, however, that no Arab nation has a democracy like the one there is in Tunisia and that it is thanks to the revolution that Tunisia has experienced such a democracy. “The Ennahdha Movement vows but never keeps its promises… I will never be on its side since it made decisions opposed to the Constitution and destroyed the country. It took the same route as Ben Ali to seize the country’s property, ”said the founder of the Democratic Current.
