In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, Mohamed Tlili Mansri, ISIE spokesperson Mohamed Tlili Mansri said that the results of the district council elections will be today per the timetable fixed by the electoral body.
Mansri shed light on the recent nomination and appeals process related to the election for the National Council of Regions and Districts. The submission of nominations occurred on March 7th and 8th, during which 11 applications were considered not to meet the required criteria. Concurrently, a chance for filing appeals was provided to the Administrative Court, leading to an appeal in the Monastir Governorate.
The final candidate list, which included two vacancies—one in Jendouba and another in Tozeur—was approved. Further, the appeal in Monastir disrupted the electoral process in that region. The Elections Authority’s council is planning to convene today to finalize these outcomes.
A press conference is scheduled to disclose the composition of the Regional Council, along with further details on upcoming dates and the comprehensive schedule for the election of the National Council of Regions and Districts. This election will involve members of the regional councils and those who have won regional council memberships. The composition is set to comprise three members for each regional council.
Concerning the official beginning date for the Council of Regions and Districts’ activities, he confirmed that, per the Commission’s timetable, all councils—including local, regional, and the National Council of Regions and Districts—will start their duties in the first week of April 2024.
