Tunisia – Monastir: Arrest of two people for harboring illegal immigrants

The General Directorate of the National Guard reported today, Wednesday, in a press release, that two individuals were arrested for harbouring undocumented foreigners.

It explained that, as part of a joint security operation between the different specialities of the National Guard districts of Teboulba and Monastir, 4 homes were searched in the regions of Bakalta and Bennane, where 24 people from sub-Saharan Africa staying illegally in Tunisia were arrested.

The same source added that the required legal measures had been taken against them.

According to a second report from the National Guard, and during a security operation aimed at decreasing the phenomenon of irregular migration in the region of the Maritime Guard in the centre and the regional directorate of the National Guard in Sfax, 5 attempts at clandestine migration were thwarted, with the arrest of 15 people wanted among the organizers and intermediaries of illegal migration operations. A significant number of means and equipment used were seized.
