Tunisia-Monastir: Meeting of the scientific committee and possibility of regional lockdown

The head of the national  Coronavirus centre in Monastir, Doctor Chawki Loussif, declared on Tuesday, January 12 that the infection tally is increasing several delegations, emphasising that the figures surpass 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in most municipalities.

He pointed out that the campaigns carried out recently in the governorate resulted in the discovery of 25% infection. Reporting in the same context that 40% of those who completed PCR tests tested positive. As a result, the weariness of the reception capacity of hospitals as well as ICU beds is the most feared thing at the moment, according to him.

He also indicated that the scientific committee will meet this afternoon to announce important decisions in this direction, adding that the possibility of decreeing regional lockdown remains probable.
