Tunisia- Motion of censure: Rached Ghannouchi blackmailed MPs according to Samia Abbou

Speaking to Diwan FM, Democratic bloc MP Samia Abbou affirmed that the motion of censure against House Speaker Rached Ghannouchi has not yet reached 109 signatures because of the blackmail exercised by Ghannouchi on certain deputies.

Indeed, many deputies including Ghazi Karoui and Sofien Toubel are the subject of requests for waiver of immunity.

She revealed that it is Rached Ghannouchi in his capacity as house speaker who receives the requests for the lifting of immunity and who is called upon to send them as a result to the specialized committee before a vote in plenary session takes place.

Rather than following this procedure and transferring these requests, Rached Ghannouchi favours to keep them to blackmail deputies, she added.
