Naoufel Amira, president of the Tunisian Union of Private Pharmacy Owners, talked this Wednesday, September 6, 2023, about the persistent shortage of medications.
Amira confirmed to a private radio station that there are no official figures on the number of missing medications.
He additionally affirmed that talking about the shortage of 900 types of medicines in Tunisia is illogical and that this figure has been exaggerated.
“The figure in circulation is of unknown root and the official figures are those of the National Observatory for the Control of Medicines which met monthly at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health, but this monthly meeting has not taken place for seven months…” he added.
