Tunisia-Parliament office refuses withdrawal of several bills

Meeting this Thursday, October 22, 2020, the office of the House of People’s Representatives “HPR” refused Kasbah’s request to withdraw certain bills.

Indeed, the office refused the withdrawal of the bill on the organization of the state of emergency, the one concerning the promulgation of the University Investment Code and the one repressing the aggression of the armed forces.

The Mechichi government in correspondence on October 12 asked to postpone the review of the two basic laws relating to the protection of the armed forces and the organization of the state of emergency to further consider its bills.

The bill on the repression of attacks against the armed forces, currently being considered in plenary is controversial. And for good reason, for civil society, it is a law that aims to strengthen the impunity of the armed forces.

It is in this sense that Amnesty International has called on the parliament  to reject the draft law on the suppression of attacks against the armed forces
