Tunisia – PDL to file complaint against Minister of Interior

The Free Destourian Party revealed, in a press release, issued yesterday Monday, that it “will lodge a criminal complaints against the Minister of the Interior and the first delegate of the governorate of Tunis, for the application of the anti-corruption law for having abused authority and exploited influence to undermine the rights of citizens and obstruct and disrupt the freedom of action of a peacefully active national political party dedicated to the law of the country.

The PDL denounced “the collective persecution and discrimination practised by the authorities against large popular groups assembled around the national project carried by the Free Destourian Party, by depriving them, as well as the rest of political sensitivities, of their right to voice their positions and to partake in intellectual and field events to make their voices heard.”

In its press release, the party believes that “the government’s insistence on stopping all planned protests against the ISIE represents a clear argument according to which this authority pulls its existence from its support for state apparatuses which monopolize violence to suppress the popular desire to reject the transgressions it has perpetrated since its appointment by legal texts which are being challenged in court for their illegality.

The PDL denounces “the legal and political responsibility of those responsible for the decision for the dangerous deviations during the presidential elections and for pushing the country towards illegitimate government establishments, which will harm Tunisia’s image among nations and harm the nation’s supreme authority and interest. ” The party renewed its “commitment to continuing the legitimate struggle to exert its right to activity without restrictions and to defend the achievements of the State, its sovereignty and the independence of its decisions”.
