Tunisia- PM Elyes Fakhfakh: 7 points decline in growth rate will impact financial balances

Prime minister Elyes Fakhfakh disclosed that his cabinet is in the process of preparing the 2020 budget.

In a televised speech, the PM said that the COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled the curtain on poverty, a fragility economy and employment, as well as the dilapidation public facilities, beginning from the health sector, in addition to the financial difficulties that Tunisia is suffering from.

He further pointed out that a decline of 7 points in the growth rate will impact financial balances. He clarified that the indebtedness approach has reached frightening levels and limited and mortgaged the country and the independence of its national decision, however, this shall not the cabinet approach.

He affirmed that the country will rely on its own abilities to assemble self-resources and rationalize expenditures.
