Tunisia-PM Elyes Fakhfakh welcomes Tunisia’s nominee for International Criminal Court Haykel Ben Mahfoudh

Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh welcomed Kasbah palace  Tunisia’s nominee for the International Criminal Court (ICC), Haykel Ben Mahfoudh, Professor of Public International Law at the Tunisian University.

During the meeting , M Fakhfakh repeated his complete support for Tunisia’s first nomination since the creation of the International Criminal Court, emphasising the necessity to make every effort to guarantee the success of this process

He further reemphasised Tunisia’s backing for the values of criminal justice and its determination to face impunity and preserve human rights principles.

Speaking after the meeting, Mahfoudh announced he had presented to the Prime Minister the broad outlines of the candidacy process as well as the work programme and promotion plan for the Tunisian candidacy file.Tunisia officially joined the International Criminal Court on June 24,  2011.
