It is in this context that a small ministerial council was held yesterday Tuesday, December 8 at the Kasbah to examine the arrangements for these two visits.
According to a statement issued by the government presidency, the head of government emphasised the significance of relationships between Tunisia on the one hand and Italy and France, emphasising the need to further consolidate them.

Hichem Mechichi also noted the need to promote French and Italian projects and investments in Tunisia, especially as the economic and development situation is currently going through a bad period.

French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin made an official visit to Tunisia on 6 November on the subject of illegal migrants.

During this visit, Gérald Darmanin had met the Tunisian Minister of the Interior, Taoufik Charfeddine with whom he spoke of the recent Nice attack perpetrated by a Tunisian who entered Italy illegally and then France.

Before him, several senior Italian officials were visiting Tunisia, including the interior and foreign ministers, to come back to the issue of illegal migration.
