President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania trump graciously extended their heartfelt condolences to Tunisia on the Passing of Beji Caid Essebsi. The president promptly issued the eulogy through the White House, joining many in mourning Essebsi, Trump and his wife hailed the late president as a steadfast advocate and a tremendous leader.
Earlier on, The U.S. Department of State extended their sincere condolences, in the issued statement the department said, “We offer our deepest condolences to the people of Tunisia on the passing of President Beji Caid Essebsi. President Essebsi was the first democratically elected president of Tunisia after its 2011 revolution. Throughout his long career, he distinguished himself as an advocate for the freedom and equality of the Tunisian people. As president, he was a close friend and valued partner of the United States. He will be remembered for his efforts to strengthen Tunisian democracy and for promoting peace and stability throughout the region”.
Moreover, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hailed Essebsi as a “distinguished statesman and committed public servant who ushered in an era of democracy.”
