Tunisia-President Saied receives Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit

President Kais Saied welcomed on Monday Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit at Carthage presidential palace.

The meeting presented the chance to examine the LAS Secretariat General and address the latest developments at the Arab level, reads a Presidency of the Republic press release.

The head of the State pointed out on the occasion, the necessity to adopt a new approach for the joint Arab action, calling to review the laws, elaborate the specialised Arab structures and organisations and secure that their work is more efficient. The aim is to achieve the LAS’s goals and to make its initiatives match the needs of the region’s peoples, he specified.

For his part, Gheit indicated that the meeting with the head of State had helped examine approaches to develop the league and ensure the success of its actions, as well as the next Arab Summit.

The meeting was attended by LAS Deputy Secretary-General and President of the leagues Centre in Tunis Salah Ben Aissa.
