Tunisia – Presidential elections: Neji Jalloul: “These candidates scare me”!

The leader of the National Coalition Party, Neji Jalloul, announced that he planned to run in the next presidential elections, criticizing, in this context, the failure to establish an official date for this electoral right and the absence of conditions clear candidacy and voting method.

He added, in his intervention today at Jawhara FM, that the party’s final candidate will be selected during the next congress, which will be organized on May 4 and 5, 2024 in Monastir. Knowing that at least 3 candidates will have to decide within the party.

Jalloul continued: Our candidate will be a party candidate, not a personal candidate. We are scared of independent candidates because experience has revealed that most of them are moving towards a totalitarian individual system.

He also confirmed that if he wins the elections, he will call “early legislative elections while keeping the second chamber (the Council of Regions and Districts) and electing a new electoral body, effectively independent and not appointed by the President of the Republic “.
