Tunisia-Rached Ghannouchi and German ambassador address approaches to strengthening bilateral partnership

House speaker Rached Ghannouchi received, on Tuesday, at Bardo Palace, the German ambassador in Tunis Andreas Reinicke at the conclusion of his mission to Tunisia.
During this meeting, Ghannouchi announced he wished to see partnership relations between the two friendly countries further extended and to embrace a greater number of German investors and companies in order to contribute to the development of the Tunisian economy, aid skills and strengthen employment and export opportunities.
He forwarded the wish that a German University is established in Tunisia, particularly as Germany hosts a great number of Tunisian students.
For his part, the German ambassador repeated his country’s predisposition to increase cooperation with Tunisia in all fields, remarking that German companies are attempting to better comprehend the specificities of the investment environment in Tunisia with a view to increasing investment and strengthening opportunities for cooperation and partnership.
German companies would like the facilitation of administrative regulations and operations in the ports particularly that of Rades, he said.
The German diplomat reviewed other areas of cooperation between the two countries, such as digitalisation, renewable energies including solar energy, the textile sector as well as higher education and vocational training.
The meeting also stressed the need to activate the parliamentary friendship group.
Other issues were also raised, in particular the economic difficulties in various countries caused by the Coronavirus pandemic and the challenges posed in terms of borrowing and pressure on the financial balances of States.
The meeting was attended by the two vice-speakers of the HPR, Samira Chaouachi and Tarak Fetiti, as well as Assessor in charge of external relations, Nabil Hajji.
