The National customs spokesman Haithe Zined announced on Saturday that the prosecution had commissioned the arrest of 2 customs officers suspected of being implicated in the trafficking of more than 17.5 kg of cocaine, the largest quantity never seized in Tunisia.
A woman was detained at La Gouletteport while in possession of this quantity of drugs. The latter was coming in Tunisia from Rome, and the cited quantity was discovered hidden in her car following a search by the investigation unit.
She was in constant touch with the two customs officials however authorities do not yet know whether it was just ordinary relationships or a fraudulent report aimed at aiding drug trafficking, Zined said.
The network has not yet been dismantled according to the spokesperson and part of the probe remains confidential.
