Tunisia-Saida Akremi [Video]: “The nationality accord is signed by the President of the Republic”

Remarking on the charges of illegally giving passports and certificates of nationality against her husband Noureddine Bhiri, attorney Saida Akremi explained that “the nationality agreement is signed by the President of the Republic”. “Noureddine Bhiri is neither the municipality nor the interior minister. Nationality is inked by the President of the Republic ”, she specified.
Let’s clarify the process according to the Tunisian Nationality Code: the person involved must first present a declaration of nationality to the State Secretariat of Justice (Article 40). Once recorded, it is transmitted to the President of the Republic who will decide to grant it to the concerned or to reject it (article 41).
During the press briefing, Charfeddine explained that ”the civil status judgments were induced on January 11, 2013, while the nationality certificates were issued on January 02, 2013, remarking that this certificate is issued on the basis of a birth certificate ”.
According to the aforementioned Code, in particular its article n ° 63 (new): “the Minister of Justice alone has the power to issue a certificate of Tunisian nationality to any person who can justify having one. Nevertheless, the diplomatic and consular agents, representing Tunisia abroad and the cantonal judges of the place of, the residence of the applicant are, with the exception of the cantonal judge of Tunis, allowed to issue the said certificate when the nationality is established under articles 6 to 10 inclusive of this Code ”.
Based on Charfeddine’s assertions and the Tunisian Nationality Code, does. Akremi desire to implicate former President of the Republic, Moncef Marzouki in this affair by trying to exonerate her husband? Did she confuse the granting of “nationality” (also known as naturalization) and “a certificate of nationality”?=
