Tunisia-Saïed calls for respect for the rights of demonstrators

The President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, welcomed, this Thursday, September 2, acting interior minister Ridha Gharsellaou at the palace of Carthage, the latter was accompanied by Sami Hichri, director-general of national security and Mourad Hsine, Director General of Public Security.

 

The head of state emphasised the necessity to deal with the demonstrators within the framework of the law and to respect the rights of citizens to protest peacefully and to freedom of expression.

Mr Saïed stressed, in this context, “the need to adopt a new approach making it possible to uphold the foundations of the rule of law, to enshrine the principles of republican security, to maintain order, to protect citizens and their property and to ensure the exercise of their rights “.
