Tunisia-Sale of rapid tests in pharmacies suspended

The president of the Tunisian Community Pharmacists Union (SPOT), Naoufel Amira, affirmed that the process of marketing rapid tests in pharmacies has been put on hold, due to several issues.

Speaking on Shems FM, he revealed that the method of use and the lack of approval of a legal and regulatory framework for the sale are the principal causes of the suspension.

He revealed that these tests cannot be done at home and need to be performed by healthcare professionals, which he states requires preparations to announce each positive case detected.

Concerning the price, Amira indicated that the 20 dinar tariff proposed by the ministry will lead to the reluctance of pharmacies to engage in this process since this price does not incorporate the basic cost.
