Tunisia-Constitutional Court: the bill referred to the President of the Republic

The draft organic law amending and supplementing the law on the Constitutional Court was referred yesterday, Wednesday, June 3, 2021, to the President of the Republic.

The secretary-general of the provisional body for the control of the constitutionality of bills, Hayder Ben Amor, told the TAP agency that it was decided to transfer this bill back to the head of state for “not reaching the needed majority in the vote ”.

He specified that the Authority takes its decisions by an absolute majority (four out of six members) and that if the majority needed for the vote is not reached, the bill is referred to the President of the Republic, following the provisions of article 23 of the statute of the Authority.
