Tunisia-Sami Tahri: No to participation in the dialogue in its current form

UGTT spokesman Sami Tahri condemned during a press conference held today, the organization of a “tailor-made” national dialogue. Tahri remembered that July 25 was a historic chance to break with a dark decade revealing that the UGTT voiced several reservations about certain late decisions taken by the President of the Republic Kais Saïed.

“The position of the UGTT is clear; we will not partake in the dialogue in its current form. We call for a comprehensive national dialogue to deal with this crisis in order to organise the ground for economic recovery,” he said. Tahri recollected that the period necessary for the launch of the national dialogue largely surpasses the 20 days set by Kais Saïed. “Does it make sense to begin this process after 20 days? What would be the repercussions on the date of the referendum and the legislative elections?” adds Tahri.
