The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) condemned the “laxity” of the authorities concerning the situation of radio Shems FM.
The SNJT called on the Presidency of the Republic to assume its responsibilities to rescue this radio station, which is in an extremely difficult situation, especially since it was subject to legal settlement.
The union assured that Shems FM has registered frequent disruptions in the broadcasting of its programs due to technical difficulties that must be overcome by the mobilization of substantial financial resources.
It is recollected that the trade unions had frequently sounded the alarm about the gravity of the situation within this confiscated radio station, and that “the government has not honoured its commitments to the staff of this media, according to the SNJT.
