Tunisia – STEG denies any change in electricity prices

STEG dismissed the increase or modification of electricity and gas prices from May 1, 2022.

The company confirmed, in a press release issued yesterday Saturday, that there were no plans or decisions concerning the increase in electricity and gas prices for this year based on the 2024 finance law.

It explained in its publication d and in reaction to what it described as “mistakes associated with mathematical operations and erroneous information”, that the policy of rationalizing consumption and directing financial support towards those who have law was executed to address the financial difficulties of the company to fulfil its commitments to raw material suppliers.

In this regard, STEG affirmed its effort to set a culture of rational consumption and energy saving, via awareness campaigns and campaigns to rationalize energy consumption, for all components of society. , including young individuals, through school campaigns, pupils and students, through the activation of courses and by partaking in several events, as well as participating in exhibitions and forums, through the channels of classic television communications, through television or radio programs, and finally through the official pages of the company’s social networks and the website.

The company announced that the calculation method approved on May 1, 2022, came to consolidate the orientation of help towards those who are entitled to it, since the legislator approved that a citizen whose monthly consumption does not surpass 200 kilowatt hours ( kWh) automatically benefits from the first tiered tariff of 176 millimetres.

As for the second example, which implicates a high consumption of 2,500 kWh (more than 500 kWh per month), the legislator approved the price per kilowatt hour for this category at 414 millimeters.
